About Whalen Family Tree
Most of the information on Washington Wesley Whalen comes from work complied by Artinsa Mae Whalen (1888-1973)March 1963.Her information was handwritten which was difficult to read. John Whalen son of Henry Whalen, middle name was Wesley not William. Also Washington Wesley Whalen buried in Sunrise Cemetery, Harrison County, Ky next to his wife and second cousin Rachel Jane Carr did not use the name George. The first Whalen's to appear in Harrison County was in 1800. According to the Lindsay Family history there was a Solomon Whealand born Oct 26, 1738, the son of Henry and Rebecca Leggoe Whalen that married an Elizabeth Ward Feb 22, 1766, St John's Parish page 88, Baltimore Md. They also had a daughter named Anna that married Tobias Mattox. I have yet been able to verify this information. According to the Barlow papers Solomon Sr and Jr. were cousins to My Henry Whalen, father of John, grandfather of Washington Wesley.
The Clopton connection comes from my father's Grandfather, Rolla Montgomery Clopton son of Abner Clopton III(jr.)
